Overview
The Banana Pi BPI-R4 Pro is a router board built on the MediaTek MT7988A (Filogic 880) quad-core Cortex-A73 SoC running at 1.8 GHz. It ships with 4 GB or 8 GB of DDR4, 8 GB of eMMC and 256 MB of SPI-NAND flash.
Networking is unusually dense for a single board: four 2.5G ports plus two 10G ports that can each operate as either SFP+ or RJ45 through the WAN and LAN combos. Two miniPCIe slots wired for PCIe 3.0 x2 accept Wi-Fi 7 NICs, and 4G/5G modems can be added for cellular backhaul.
Key Benefits
MediaTek MT7988A (Filogic 880) quad Cortex-A73. 2 x 10G SFP+/RJ45 and 4 x 2.5G ports. Dual PCIe 3.0 miniPCIe for Wi-Fi 7 radios. 8 GB eMMC and 256 MB SPI-NAND. 4G/5G expansion support.
Applications
High-throughput OpenWrt routers and firewalls, Wi-Fi 7 access points with 10G uplinks, SMB and lab network appliances, cellular-backhaul gateways and software-defined networking test platforms.
