Overview
The Toradex Verdin iMX95 Evaluation Kit packages NXP's i.MX 95 processor in the Toradex Verdin computer-on-module form factor, mounted on a full-featured carrier board. The point of a SoM is the split: the module carries the processor, memory, PMIC and high-speed signalling — all the hard, impedance-controlled, certification-heavy work — while the carrier board carries only what is specific to your product's I/O.
That split is why the evaluation kit is worth more than a bare reference board. You validate the application on the EVK, then design a custom carrier for volume production, reusing the same module and the same software stack. Because the carrier is Verdin-standard, it also accepts other Verdin modules, so a product that starts on i.MX 95 can later be cost-reduced onto a lower tier without a board respin.
On the i.MX 95 itself the kit brings the NXP eIQ Neutron NPU, an integrated ISP for camera pipelines and the Arm Mali GPU family, with Torizon OS providing a container-based, OTA-updatable Linux for fielded devices. QS Compute supplies the EVK and the Verdin module range with carrier design support.
Key Benefits
SoM plus carrier split — validate on the EVK, then ship a custom carrier and keep the module; Verdin-standard footprint lets one carrier accept multiple module tiers, so future cost reduction needs no board respin; eIQ Neutron NPU + ISP + Mali GPU for on-module perception; Torizon OS container-based OTA Linux reduces field-update work; long-lifecycle industrial availability.
Applications
Industrial HMI and control panels; machine vision and edge AI inference; medical devices; transportation and rolling-stock electronics; building automation; long-lifecycle embedded products needing 10-year module availability.
