Overview

The NXP i.MX 95 Evaluation Kit (MCIMX95LPD5EVK-19) is the official development platform for the i.MX 95 applications processor family. It combines six Arm Cortex-A55 application cores with dedicated Cortex-M33 and Cortex-M7 real-time cores on the same die — so a single board can run Linux for the HMI and inference workload while the M-cores close a deterministic control loop.

For edge AI the kit brings the NXP eIQ Neutron NPU plus an Arm Mali-G310 V2 GPU and an integrated ISP, which means camera input, neural-network inference and display output are handled on-chip rather than through external accelerators. Networking is industrial-grade: a 10 GbE port with two additional 1 GbE ports on NXP's NETC controller with TSN support — the timeliness guarantees that motion and machine-vision applications need and that consumer SoCs do not provide.

Security and safety are designed in rather than bolted on: an EdgeLock secure enclave for key storage and attestation, and a safety architecture targeting ASIL-B / SIL-2, which is the qualification level most industrial and automotive edge designs actually require. QS Compute supplies the EVK and the wider i.MX 9 family with BSP and toolchain support.

Key Benefits

Six Cortex-A55 cores plus M33/M7 real-time cores — run Linux and a hard real-time loop on one chip; eIQ Neutron NPU + Mali-G310 GPU + ISP for on-chip camera-to-inference pipelines; 10 GbE + dual 1 GbE with TSN — deterministic industrial networking that consumer-grade SoCs lack; EdgeLock secure enclave and ASIL-B / SIL-2 target — designed-in security and safety; full NXP BSP, Yocto and eIQ toolchain.

Applications

Industrial HMI and machine control; robotics and AMR controllers; machine vision with on-chip ISP and NPU; automotive and aerospace edge compute; smart building and energy controllers; medical and laboratory instruments.
