Overview
The LILYGO T-Display K230 puts a dual-core 64-bit RISC-V application processor into a handheld enclosure with a 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a real keyboard. It is a development platform rather than a consumer device: every subsystem is exposed for firmware and vision work.
The Kendryte K230 carries an on-die neural network accelerator, which makes the kit a practical bench for RISC-V vision inference — camera capture, model deployment and display of results without an x86 host in the loop. The dual-core RISC-V application processor runs Linux, so standard capture and inference tooling ports across.
An nRF52840 companion MCU handles the low-level duties: keyboard scanning, Bluetooth Low Energy and low-power wake, letting the main processor sleep instead of polling. Connectivity covers LoRa for long-range telemetry, Wi-Fi for commissioning, plus Ethernet and HDMI when the board is used on a bench with a monitor.
Camera and expansion headers make it usable as a portable field instrument: benchmark a model on target, capture sample frames, and log LoRa telemetry back to a base station. For RISC-V platform bring-up it is one of the few kits that ships as an assembled, screen-equipped unit rather than a bare board.
Key Benefits
Self-contained RISC-V vision bench with screen, keyboard and battery-free bench power options · K230 NPU lets models run on the target architecture instead of an approximate host · companion nRF52840 offloads radio and input to cut main-core power · LoRa plus Ethernet covers both long-range telemetry and wired lab use.
Applications
RISC-V edge vision prototyping, LoRa sensor gateway development, portable measurement and data-logging terminals, AI model benchmarking on K230 targets, and embedded Linux teaching and bring-up.
