Overview

The D-Robotics RDK S100P is a robotics development kit built around the S100P module. It brings together a 6-core Arm Cortex-A78AE application cluster, a separate 4-core Cortex-R52+ MCU domain, a Nash BPU rated at 128 TOPS INT8, a Mali-G78AE GPU and 24 GB of LPDDR5 on a 96-bit bus — a specification set aimed squarely at the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB class of robotics computer.

The architectural distinction is the split between application and real-time domains. Two of the Cortex-R52+ cores run in lockstep for safety, while the other two support split-lock operation, so time-critical motor and sensor I/O can stay on the MCU while Linux and vision processing run on the A78AE cluster. That can remove the need for a separate real-time controller, depending on the robot and its requirements. I/O covers three 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 interfaces, an optional camera board that adds two MIPI and four GMSL2 inputs through a MAX96712 deserializer, dual Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth through an M.2 E-Key socket.

Software is delivered as a complete stack rather than a bare BSP: RDK OS is an Ubuntu 22.04 desktop image on Linux 6.1, flashed from Windows, Linux or Apple Silicon via D-Navigation over USB Type-C in U-Boot/fastboot or DFU mode. For robotics work, TogetheROS.Bot provides ROS 2 Humble components for sensing, BPU inference and hardware video processing, and the OpenExplorer toolchain plus rdk_model_zoo cover INT8 quantization of YOLO and other reference models. D-Robotics also publishes the sources needed to build custom system images.

Key Benefits

128 TOPS INT8 Nash BPU with 24 GB of LPDDR5 in a single robotics board. Six Cortex-A78AE cores plus a four-core Cortex-R52+ lockstep MCU domain consolidate Linux vision processing and real-time control onto one platform. Three 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 ports, expandable to four GMSL2 cameras through the optional MAX96712 camera board, cover multi-camera perception. TogetheROS.Bot on ROS 2 Humble with OpenExplorer INT8 quantization shortens the path from model to deployed robot. 12–20 V DC input, 90 W adapter included and up to 150 W board headroom suit mobile robotics power budgets.

Applications

Mobile and humanoid robotics development, AMR and AGV perception stacks, multi-camera vision with GMSL2 sensors, real-time motor and motion control, autonomous navigation with ROS 2, industrial inspection robots, research and education platforms requiring an Orin NX 16GB-class alternative.
