Overview
The Syslogic RML-R10 SPE is a rail-certified embedded computer introduced at InnoTrans 2026, built to move automotive-grade sensor technology into rolling stock. Its defining feature is four Single Pair Ethernet ports at 100/1000BASE-T1 — each with its own dedicated Network Interface Controller rather than a switched arrangement. That gives cameras and sensors real-time, deterministic links at up to 1 Gbit/s over cable runs up to 40 metres, which suits the physical layout of a rail vehicle far better than conventional Ethernet cabling.
Single Pair Ethernet matters here because the automotive sensor market has standardised on it: high-performance cameras, LiDAR and radar modules are increasingly offered with 1000BASE-T1 interfaces and TSN support. By exposing four SPE ports alongside four Gigabit Ethernet ports, two isolated CAN FD channels and RS232, the RML-R10 SPE can host a collision-warning or driver-assistance stack without a rack of media converters or a bespoke gateway.
Compute comes from a 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 Raptor Lake processor with up to 64 GB of RAM — enough to run several vision pipelines concurrently or to host virtualised workloads. PCIe 5.0 storage and up to 8 TB of NVMe capacity handle the video retention that rail analytics typically requires. Optional 5G RedCap provides the wide-area backhaul while a u-blox GNSS receiver delivers RTK-level accuracy and dead reckoning that keeps positioning valid through tunnels and station canopies.
The platform is engineered for the rail environment end to end: EN 50155 Class OT4 extended temperature, EN 50155 Class S2 10 ms power-interruption ride-through, EN 45545-2 HL3 fire protection and EN 61373 shock and vibration compliance. A galvanically isolated 16.8 – 137.5 VDC input connects directly to common onboard power networks, eliminating external DC/DC conversion. Cybersecurity is handled by TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, Intel® CET and Total Memory Encryption.
Key Benefits
Four SPE ports on dedicated NICs — deterministic, TSN-capable links to automotive-grade cameras and sensors without external conversion. 40 m single-pair cable runs simplify harness routing through rail vehicles. Direct 16.8 – 137.5 VDC connection to onboard power removes DC/DC converters. Full EN 50155 / EN 45545-2 HL3 / EN 61373 certification de-risks type approval. Up to 64 GB RAM and PCIe 5.0 supports concurrent vision pipelines and virtualisation. GNSS RTK with dead reckoning maintains positioning through tunnels and stations.
Applications
Collision warning and obstacle detection systems; driver-assistance (ADAS) and intelligent vision on rolling stock; automated train operation and driver-machine interface subsystems; passenger information and onboard CCTV analytics; wayside and trackside edge computing; heavy-duty transportation and off-highway vehicle platforms; any EN 50155 application requiring sensor-grade Ethernet.
