Overview

The OnLogic CL260 is the newest member of the CL200 Series and is designed for the least glamorous but most numerous class of industrial edge deployment: the boxes that quietly collect data from machines and sensors, translate industrial protocols, run a little local analytics and forward only what matters upstream. OnLogic describes it as a go-between rather than a server replacement, and the specification is coherent with that framing.

Mechanically it is a genuinely palm-sized system — 115 × 30 × 82 mm and around one pound — built from cast aluminium and plastic with DIN-rail and VESA mounting, so it fits inside control cabinets and on machine frames. Crucially it is fanless, which means no moving parts, no filter maintenance and no dust ingress path. In a plant with hundreds of these units, that single design decision is worth more operationally than any clock-speed increase.

The I/O mix is chosen for industrial integration rather than office duty. Dual Gigabit Ethernet lets the CL260 sit between a machine network and the upstream business network, which is the standard segmentation pattern for OT/IT boundary devices. One serial port supporting RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 covers direct connection to legacy equipment, sensors and controllers. Four USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports and two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C ports — the latter carrying DisplayPort 1.4 for up to two status displays or signage — round out the front panel.

Compute is four-core Intel Processor N150 or N250 with 8GB of LPDDR5 at 4800 MT/s, which is right-sized for data collection, protocol translation, light on-site analytics, device management and remote data logging. An internal M.2 2280 slot handles storage, and an M.2 2230 E-key slot takes a Wi-Fi module if wired networking is unavailable. Power comes in over a 3-pin terminal block at 12 to 24 VDC, up to 65W, which matches the range of industrial DC power systems and simplifies wiring in a cabinet. For deployments where the requirement is hundreds of identical, low-touch, long-lived edge nodes, this is a purpose-built answer.

Target Applications

Distributed industrial edge and IIoT gateway deployments, industrial protocol translation, machine and sensor data collection, on-site light analytics, remote data logging and process monitoring, connected device management, digital signage management, and OT/IT network segmentation in manufacturing plants.
