Roadmap
NVIDIA Jetson Thor variant of the RE1600M/RE1900M family announced as coming
Overview
The Crystal Group RE1900M addresses a problem that ordinary industrial computers cannot: running serious AI inference on a platform that has to survive salt water, shock, vibration and temperature extremes without a climate-controlled rack. It pairs NVIDIA’s Jetson AGX Orin Industrial module — 2,048 Ampere CUDA cores and 64 Tensor Cores — with an IP68 sealed enclosure to deliver 248 to 275 TOPS in a seven-pound package.
The ruggedisation is the product. The RE1900M is engineered for amphibious operations, uses a modular mounting receiver instead of fixed brackets, and runs air-cooled across –40 to +70°C on 18 to 36 VDC — a voltage range that maps directly onto military and vehicle power systems rather than mains-derived industrial supplies. Crystal Group declares design compliance to MIL-STD-810 and describes shock and vibration qualification. The unit measures 67.31 × 203.20 × 241.30 mm, so it fits unmanned platforms where a 1U rack server simply will not go.
Connectivity is deliberately mission-oriented: dual 10GbE for high-bandwidth sensor and video backhaul, one USB-C, an HDMI maintenance port, and modular I/O that can be configured for CAN, camera input or additional USB depending on the platform. The primary workload is AI inference over camera feeds — visible light, infrared and other sensors — feeding operator situational awareness, which is exactly what unmanned surface vessels, unmanned aerial vehicles and mobile vehicle platforms need. Crystal Group positions the system for AI image recognition and AI-based computer vision applications.
The wider portfolio context matters for programme planning. The RE1600M is a companion sealed system on the same Jetson AGX Orin Industrial foundation with a Jetson Thor variant announced as coming, and the RE4100 Series adds an ultra-compact high-density edge compute platform qualified to MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-S-901. Everything is designed, manufactured, assembled and tested in Crystal Group’s US facility, certified to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D, and backed by a five-plus-year warranty — the lifecycle commitments defence and government programmes require. The RE4100 and RE1900M both debuted at AFCEA WEST 2026.
Target Applications
Unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), mobile vehicle and tactical platforms, forward-deployed situational awareness, real-time video analytics with visible-light and infrared cameras, AI-based computer vision for autonomy, and defense, government and industrial edge programmes requiring MIL-STD ruggedisation.
