Overview
The DFI EC600-RPS is a fanless, expandable embedded platform aimed at industrial automation where the compute requirement changes over the life of the machine. It is powered by Intel Core processors (Series 2) and supports configurations up to 24 cores with 65 W TDP Intel Core 14th Gen options, alongside high-end discrete GPUs drawing up to 400 W — enough headroom for vision inference that a CPU alone cannot serve.
The design choice that separates it from a fixed-configuration box PC is the modular chassis: expansion, I/O and upgrade paths are handled through modules rather than a single fixed backplane, so the same platform can be scaled as an application's sensor count and model complexity grow. Connectivity includes 5G for low-latency data transmission, and the system supports a wide operating temperature range for factory-floor and outdoor cabinet installations.
For deployment at scale, DFI includes Out-of-Band (OOB) remote management, which allows remote troubleshooting and repair including BIOS updates and reboots without physical access to the unit. That combination — fanless operation, discrete GPU support, modular expansion and remote serviceability — is aimed at demanding inspection workloads such as high-precision machine vision, Automated Optical Inspection and equipment condition monitoring in smart manufacturing.
Key Benefits
Discrete GPU support up to 400 W in a fanless chassis enables GPU-accelerated vision inference without a rack server. Up to 24 cores with 65 W Intel Core 14th Gen options covers CPU-heavy inspection pipelines. Modular chassis with extensive I/O and multiple expansion options lets the platform scale with the application. DFI Out-of-Band remote management including BIOS updates and reboots cuts on-site service visits. 5G connectivity and wide operating temperature support suit distributed and harsh-environment deployment.
Applications
High-precision industrial automation, machine vision and vision-guided robotics, Automated Optical Inspection in smart manufacturing, equipment condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, semiconductor and electronics production lines, and remotely managed multi-site inspection deployments.
