Overview
The ARBOR ARES-1980 is a fanless, rugged industrial controller that pairs an 11th Generation Intel Core (Tiger Lake UP3) processor with a dedicated Hailo-8 AI accelerator. The Hailo-8 delivers up to 26 TOPS of INT8 inference at roughly 2.5W typical power, which lets the controller run real-time vision models alongside PLC-grade control logic without a GPU.
The platform is built for factory floors and mobile machinery: isolated 8-in / 8-out digital I/O, four serial ports (two configurable RS-232/422/485), dual GbE with PoE, 2.5GbE with Intel AMT for remote management, and a DB-15 multi-serial bus exposing I2C, SPI, UART and GPIO.
Power and environmental ratings are industrial-grade - DC 9-36V wide input, -20°C to 60°C operating temperature, IEC 60068 shock and vibration compliance, plus ten reserved antenna holes for WiFi, 5G/LTE or GNSS modules via the mPCIe and M.2 B-Key slots.
Typical uses are AI-augmented machine control, vision-guided robotics, packaging inspection and intelligent transportation, where deterministic control and on-box neural inference must coexist in one DIN-rail or wall-mount chassis.
Key Benefits
Discrete Hailo-8 26 TOPS accelerator alongside Intel Core CPU for real-time vision plus deterministic control; fanless construction with IEC 60068 shock/vibration compliance; isolated 8DI/8DO and four serial ports for direct machine integration; dual GbE PoE plus 2.5GbE AMT for camera and remote management traffic; DC 9-36V input for vehicles and battery systems; 5G/LTE and WiFi expansion via mPCIe and M.2 with triple nano-SIM.
Applications
AI machine control and PLC-adjacent inference; vision-guided robotics and pick-and-place; packaging and print inspection; intelligent transportation systems; autonomous mobile robots; industrial IoT edge gateways.
