EV chargers, industrial gateways, IoT edge with basic display
The Renesas RZ/G3SE is the graphics-free sibling of the RZ/G3L. It carries the same CPU complex — up to four Arm Cortex-A55 cores at 1.2 GHz plus a 200 MHz Cortex-M33 coprocessor — and drops the Mali-G31 3D GPU and the H.264 video codec to cut die area, power and cost for designs that only need a basic status or configuration display.
The defining advantage is pin compatibility with the RZ/G3L. A single PCB layout can carry either part, so a product family can span a simple status-panel gateway and a graphics-capable HMI terminal without a board respin. That collapses two hardware development programmes into one.
Target applications are EV chargers, industrial and home gateways, and IoT edge devices where the display shows status indicators and configuration screens. Like the RZ/G3L it integrates TSN-capable Gigabit Ethernet and PCIe for 5G or Wi-Fi 6 expansion, is rated to Tj = -40°C to +125°C, and holds deep-standby power near 1 mW with Linux retained in memory for instant resume.
