The Renesas RZ/G3L is a 64-bit general-purpose microprocessor for HMI and edge systems. Its CPU cluster carries up to four Arm Cortex-A55 cores at 1.2 GHz alongside a 200 MHz Cortex-M33 coprocessor dedicated to real-time and system-management tasks — so a design can run Linux on the A55s while the M33 handles deterministic control loops, wake sources and power sequencing.
The RZ/G3L is the graphics-capable member of the pair: it integrates an Arm Mali-G31 3D GPU and an H.264 encode/decode block for 1080p30 video, plus an ISU2 image-scaling unit for hardware colour format conversion up to 2048 x 2048. That combination suits smart retail terminals, medical HMI panels and any interface that needs rendered graphics or live video rather than a static status screen.
I/O includes TSN-capable Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe and USB 2.0 for expansion to 5G, Wi-Fi 6 or an external AI accelerator, and the third-generation RZ/G power architecture holds deep-standby draw near 1 mW while retaining Linux in memory so the system resumes without a cold boot. The part is rated to Tj = -40°C to +125°C and is offered in 368-pin and 400-pin LFBGA packages, with Yocto Linux and Zephyr RTOS support.
