Overview
FriendlyElec's NanoPi and NanoPC boards are the low-cost end of the Rockchip edge-AI ecosystem: RK3576 and RK3588 single board computers that carry a 6 TOPS NPU, 2.5 GbE networking and M.2 NVMe storage for a fraction of the cost of an industrial edge PC. They are widely used as inference nodes, NAS and router platforms, and as the hardware half of kiosk and gateway products.
The RK3588-based NanoPC-T6-LTS is the flagship: 4x Cortex-A76 plus 4x Cortex-A55, 6 TOPS NPU, up to 16 GB LPDDR4X, a PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot rated to 2,500 MB/s, two 2.5 GbE ports, two HDMI outputs and one HDMI input. The RK3576-based NanoPi R76S and NanoPi M5 trade some CPU throughput for lower cost and power while keeping the 6 TOPS NPU and mixed-precision INT4/INT8/INT16/FP16/BF16/TF32 support, and the RK3566 NanoPi R3S-LTS at 1 TOPS covers light gateway and routing duties. All boards ship with Debian, Ubuntu, FriendlyWrt or Android images and a Linux 6.1 LTS kernel.
Key Benefits
6 TOPS NPU on RK3576 and RK3588 models; up to 16 GB LPDDR4X memory; 2x PCIe 2.5G Ethernet on NanoPC-T6-LTS and NanoPi R76S; M.2 M-Key NVMe to 2,500 MB/s; eMMC options to 256 GB; 8K video decode; dual HDMI output plus HDMI input; Ubuntu, Debian, FriendlyWrt, OpenMediaVault, Proxmox VE and Android images; 57 x 57 mm 8-layer PCB on the router-class boards.
Applications
Edge AI inference nodes, NAS and home-lab servers, router and firewall appliances, industrial gateway prototyping, machine-vision front ends, digital signage players, robotics controllers, and low-cost AI development workstations.
