Overview
The Khadas Edge2 is an RK3588S2 single board computer built for embedded integration rather than desktop use. The SoC combines an octa-core 64-bit CPU, a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU and a 6 TOPS NPU on one die, so vision inference and video decode can run on the same board without a discrete accelerator.
Display handling is unusually capable for this class of board: 8K decode, a 4K user interface and support for four independent displays. Combined with the real-time clock's ability to power the board on at a scheduled time, that makes the Edge2 a practical controller for digital signage and kiosk installations as well as robotics.
For custom hardware the Edge2 Maker Kit exposes seven FPC connectors and 7-pin pogo pads, and the older Edge-V and Edge carry a 314-pin connector in the VIM form factor - so a product can start on a standard board and later move to a custom carrier without changing the software stack.
Key Benefits
6 TOPS NPU on board for edge inference without a separate accelerator, 8K decode with four independent displays for signage and operator interfaces, and FPC and pogo expansion plus a 314-pin mezzanine option for custom carrier designs.
Applications
Digital signage and kiosks with scheduled power-on, robotics and drone payload compute, vision inspection at the edge, edge AI gateways, interactive terminals, medical and laboratory instruments, and custom carrier board products.
