Arm AGI — Arm's First In-House Commercial CPU

AGI is a milestone for Arm: its first complete, in-house commercial CPU, announced at Hot Chips 2026. Rather than licensing the Neoverse IP to third parties, Arm is now selling the finished chip directly to server vendors. Built around the third-generation Neoverse V3 core with 2 MB of private L2 and 128-bit SVE2, AGI targets the next wave of agentic AI servers.

The SoC is a two-chiplet design — each chiplet carries 35 compute tiles (two cores each) on a CMN-S3 mesh, with 50+ billion transistors per chiplet on TSMC N3P. Each SoC delivers up to 136 usable Neoverse V3 cores (144 in silicon, 8 reserved for die harvesting) at up to 3.7 GHz.

Memory, I/O & Interconnect

A 12-channel DDR5-8800 subsystem provides 845 GB/s of aggregate bandwidth at 1DPC (dropping to DDR5-6400 at 2DPC) — roughly 6 GB/s per core. Six I/O subsystems expose 96 PCIe Gen6 lanes plus 6 Gen4 utility lanes with bifurcation down to x4, and support CXL 3.0 including Type-3 devices. Chip-to-chip, AGI uses UCIe (two x16 modules at 32 Gbps/lane) for 1 TB/s of D2D bandwidth in each direction — more than memory bandwidth, keeping NUMA-1 performance high. MPAM resource partitioning guarantees consistent performance.

Positioning & Availability

Arm positions AGI across the market — from rack-scale systems to conventional commercial servers (ASRock Rack already showed one of the first AGI servers at COMPUTEX 2026). AGI is the first step in a long-term Arm SoC roadmap for the data center, putting Arm in direct competition with x86 (Intel/AMD) and NVIDIA's Vera CPU. The 64-core parts run a nominal 3.5 GHz (3.7 GHz boost), while higher-core parts run 3.2 GHz nominal (3.5 GHz boost).

QS Compute supplies Arm AGI processors and AGI-based server platforms for Arm-native cloud, agentic AI, and hyperscale deployments.
