Overview
The IcyDock MB204MP-1B is a full-metal ToughArmor mobile rack that carries two 7 mm U.2 or U.3 NVMe SSDs on a single removable tray, connecting over PCIe 4.0 x4 at up to 64 Gbps through a SlimSAS 4i (SFF-8654 4i) host cable.
Because both SSDs live on one tray, the drives keep their pairing and order when the tray is pulled - useful for sneakernet data transfer, RAID-set portability and offline archiving. The U.2 connector is rated for 10,000 insertion and removal cycles.
A separate IcyDock interposer converts a standard M.2 NVMe SSD into the 7 mm U.2 form factor so it can be used in this rack and in U.2 backplanes.
