Overview
Flex Power Modules supplies the 48 V conversion blocks that sit between a rack-level power shelf and the processors inside an AI server. The flagship BMR491 is a quarter-brick isolated DC-DC converter rated to 2,450 W peak, with the initial versions delivering 1,300 W continuous and the 48-60 V input variant reaching 1,850 W peak for under a second at up to 97.6% typical efficiency.
The eighth-brick BMR492 covers lower-power rails with the same digital control: the BMR4920300/864 produces 12 V at 800 W continuous and 1,100 W peak from a 40-60 V input at 97.5% efficiency. For board-level regulation, the BMR510 integrated power stage handles up to 80 A continuous and 140 A peak, and the BMR683 fills the 500 W quarter-brick segment.
The family is designed for 48 V architectures end to end — isolated regulated conversion from the 48 V bus, dedicated vertical power delivery modules that place regulation close to the processor, and point-of-load converters from 4 A to 80 A. PMBus telemetry and published thermal models let system architects simulate and monitor the whole chain.
Key Benefits
Very high power density in standard bricks — 2,450 W peak from a quarter brick and 1,100 W peak from an eighth brick — with up to 97.6% efficiency at 48 Vin. PMBus digital control across the family enables telemetry, configuration and fault reporting without custom circuitry. Vertical power delivery and 4-80 A point-of-load options let one vendor supply the entire 48 V-to-processor chain, and ORv3-compatible rack and power solutions extend the same architecture to the rack level.
Applications
AI and deep-learning servers on 48 V rack distribution; high-performance computing and big-data analytics nodes; vertical power delivery under high-current accelerator packages; ORv3 racks with 48 V busbars; telecom and cloud infrastructure requiring PMBus-managed power; and edge AI systems where board space and thermal headroom are constrained.
