Overview
ST BrightSense is STMicroelectronics' family of global-shutter CMOS image sensors built on backside-illuminated, 3D-stacked pixel technology with capacitive deep-trench isolation. Because all pixels are exposed simultaneously, there is no rolling-shutter distortion of moving objects.
The line spans the VD55G0 (0.38 MP) through the VD56G3/VD66GY (1.5 MP mono/colour) to the new 5 MP series, which adds on-chip RGB-IR separation and an extended-exposure NIR subpixel so a single device can deliver colour and near-monochrome images for security and machine vision.
Key Benefits
Global shutter removes motion distortion. 0.38 MP to 5 MP in one family with RGB-IR options. S-Board dev kits and 10-year longevity commitment
Applications
Industrial machine vision and barcode reading; robotics obstacle avoidance; smart security and electronic toll collection; face recognition; AR/VR; presence detection.
