Overview

Basler's GMSL vision system is a fully matched hardware and software stack that adds industrial machine vision to any NVIDIA Jetson Orin-based application. At its centre are the ace 2 GMSL area scan cameras, available with sensors up to 24.4 MP and frame rates up to 170 fps, using on-camera processing to keep the embedded pipeline efficient. GMSL is used as the embedded interface because it carries high-bandwidth video with power over a single thin coaxial cable and is designed for the vibration and EMI conditions found on machines and vehicles.

For evaluation and development Basler supplies a dedicated adapter kit for the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit (order number 109905). The kit accepts ace 2 GMSL cameras and is specified from -10°C to 60°C, extending to -40°C to 70°C when the board is mounted in a housing. Software support comes from the pylon Software Suite for Linux ARM, the pylon GStreamer plug-in — which lets any Basler camera be used inside a GStreamer pipeline — and pylon vTools plug-ins for AI image analysis without custom programming.

Beyond the camera and adapter, Basler publishes camera enablement packages for partner IPCs carrying NVIDIA Jetson Orin processors, including systems from Advantech, Lanner, Neousys and Syslogic, so a vision system can be commissioned plug-and-play rather than integrated from scratch. The same ecosystem includes the Basler Stereo mini 3D camera for logistics and factory automation, developed in partnership with Orbbec, and the racer S line scan series for demanding inspection such as battery production. Basler commits to at least 10 years of component supply.
