Overview

The Alvium 1800 U family is Allied Vision's USB3 Vision line, built around the ALVIUM system-on-chip rather than a plain sensor-to-USB bridge. That SoC performs defect-pixel correction, debayering and other preprocessing on the camera itself, which lowers host CPU load and makes the camera usable on embedded boards that could not otherwise keep up with a 3.20 MP stream. The U-319 is the general-purpose workhorse of the line.

It carries a Sony IMX265 CMOS global shutter with 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm pixels in a 1/1.8" (8.9 mm) optical format, delivering 2,064 × 1,544 at 54 frames per second over a single USB 3.1 Gen 1 link — no frame grabber, no Camera Link cabling, and power over the same USB connection. The 38 × 29 × 29 mm body and 60 g mass make it usable on moving axes and on robot end-effectors, and it is available in closed, open and bare-board housing so it can be integrated inside a device rather than bolted alongside one.

Three lens mounts are offered — C, CS and S — which matters in embedded designs where a board-level camera must be built into an existing optical path. GPIO is four programmable TTL lines on a 7-pin JST connector for hardware trigger and strobe. QS Compute supplies the Alvium 1800 U range in volume with factory packaging and full documentation.

Key Benefits

Host CPU offload — the onboard ALVIUM SoC does image preprocessing so the host sees a clean, corrected stream. One cable — USB3 Vision carries power, data and trigger over a single locked connector. Integrator-friendly — closed / open / bare-board housings and C, CS or S mounts let the same sensor be designed into a product.

Applications

Automated optical inspection, robot guidance and bin picking, embedded vision inside medical and analytical instruments, barcode and OCR stations, and laboratory imaging where a colour-correct USB3 camera is needed with minimal host overhead.
