Overview
The Silicom P425G2SNX is the IAONIC generation of Silicom's switch-on-NIC server adapters. Rather than a stripped-down Ethernet controller, the card carries an Intel Atom P5700 Snow Ridge-NX network SoC with 8 to 16 cores and two channels of memory-down ECC DDR4, so meaningful compute, network function and acceleration workloads execute on the adapter instead of consuming host CPU cycles.
Silicom's IAONIC line is aimed at offloading the accelerators that Intel builds into its server processors, so that inline compression, encryption, packet processing and analytics pipelines run on the card in front of the host. The P425G2SNX supports that model with its own TPM 2.0, secure boot chain and a board-level BMC based on the EFM32GG11B420F2048 microcontroller running a Silicom management image.
Serviceability details are datacenter-oriented: a SuperCap-backed RTC so time is preserved without a battery, a clear-CMOS jumper, a programmable fan controller, trip-alarm and power-good LEDs, and per-port SFP28/QSFP28 link activity indicators on the front panel. The host sees only a PCIe x1 Gen2 management interface, keeping the data path on the card.
Key Benefits
Compute on the card: 8-16 core Atom P5700 SoC with memory-down ECC DDR4. Secure by design: TPM 2.0, QSPI-protected firmware and a secure boot loader. Self-managing: on-board BMC, debug console, sensors and trip-alarm LEDs. Host-light: offloads network and inline acceleration so server CPUs stay free for applications.
Applications
In-line network function offload, SmartNIC-based security and firewalling, packet processing and telemetry at the server edge, storage and NVMe-oF front ends, 5G user-plane acceleration, and DPU-style infrastructure workloads.
