Overview

The Q3200-RA is the mid-scale member of the NVIDIA Quantum-X800 XDR family. A single 2U enclosure holds two independent 36-port InfiniBand switches, each providing 36 ports at 800Gb/s across 18 OSFP cages, for a combined leaf capacity that fits mid-sized AI clusters without the cabling density of a 4U Q3400.

Its practical role is as the bridge generation. The Q3200 is explicitly positioned to connect newly built Quantum-X800 compute pods into existing Quantum and Quantum-2 NDR storage and management fabrics, so operators can light up 800Gb/s compute rails while their storage tier still runs NDR. Each of the two internal switches is independent, and a dedicated OSFP 400Gb/s in-band management port serves UFM separately from the data ports.

Cooling is connector-to-power airflow with four replaceable power supplies and five replaceable fan modules, sized for standard-depth 19-inch cabinets.

Key Benefits

Two switches, one chassis. Halves the rack units and PSU count versus two standalone leaf switches. 800Gb/s rails with NDR interop. Purpose-built to attach XDR compute to an existing Quantum-2 footprint. Clean management separation. The OSFP UFM port leaves all data ports for the compute fabric. Fully serviceable. Four PSUs and five fans are field-replaceable.

Applications

Mid-scale AI training clusters needing XDR leaf capacity; attaching new Quantum-X800 compute nodes to legacy Quantum-2 NDR storage; HPC fabrics where 2U of rack height per leaf pair is the design constraint; labs and reference builds that need 400Gb/s and 800Gb/s mixed-rate leaf ports.
