Overview

The MQM9700-NS2FS is the secure-boot build of the managed Quantum-2 QM9700 switch. Functionally it is the same 64-port NDR 400 Gb/s platform as the MQM9700-NS2R — 32 OSFP connectors, 51.2 Tb/s bidirectional, 130 ns latency, MLNX-OS with an on-board subnet manager and SHARPv3 — with two differences that matter to procurement: secure boot is enforced, and airflow runs power-to-connector (forward).

Secure boot matters in government, defence and regulated-finance clusters where the network fabric is part of the trusted computing base and firmware must be cryptographically verified at power-on. Airflow direction matters physically: forward-airflow switches are installed at the front of a rack and pull cool aisle air through, so an NS2FS and an NS2R cannot be swapped without reversing the rack's thermal design.

QS Compute supplies both airflow variants and the secure-boot models of the QM97XX family, plus OSFP optics and cabling.

Key Benefits

Secure boot for clusters where fabric firmware is inside the trusted computing base; P2C forward airflow suits front-of-rack installation; same 51.2 Tb/s, 130 ns platform as the standard QM9700 — no performance trade for the security build; SHARPv3 in-network collective offload; 1+1 hot-swap PSUs.

Applications

Government, defence and regulated-sector AI clusters with secure-boot mandates; front-of-rack topologies; HPC fabrics; multi-tenant AI cloud fabric; storage convergence over RDMA.
