Overview
The Microchip XpressConnect retimer family conditions and re-drives PCIe 6.0 and CXL 3.0/3.1 links so that 64 GT/s signalling can traverse the longer traces, connectors and cables of modern AI server and rack-scale architectures. At PCIe 6.0 rates channel loss and reflections would otherwise close the eye, so a retimer is required between the host and the endpoint.
As AI clusters scale in lane count and physical span, PCIe retimers become standard building blocks alongside high-radix switches. The XpressConnect family targets exactly this dense, high-speed interconnect tier.
