Use Case
KVM-over-IP out-of-band server and workstation management
Overview
JetKVM Mini is a smaller, lower-cost version of the JetKVM KVM-over-IP appliance. The defining architectural change is that it drops the Linux-based Rockchip RV1106G3 design in favour of Espressif's ESP32-P4X RISC-V microcontroller, which handles video capture, H.264 encoding, USB and system functions directly.
Because the firmware runs on the microcontroller rather than Linux, the Mini no longer needs the RAM and eMMC flash that the original board carried — which is where most of the bill-of-materials saving comes from. It retains 1080p capture, Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity and adds a small information display.
Key Benefits
Out-of-band access at a materially lower cost than Linux-based KVM-over-IP appliances; 1080p H.264 capture on an ESP32-P4X RISC-V MCU; Ethernet or Wi-Fi uplink suits both rack and desk deployments; on-board display gives local status without a browser session.
Applications
Data-centre out-of-band server management, remote lab and test-bench access, edge-site device recovery and OEM remote-support appliances.
