Overview

Cisco's entry into the 800G AI fabric is the Nexus 9364E family, built on its own Silicon One programmable ASICs. The N9364E-SG2 packs 64 ports of 800G into 2RU with 102.4 Tbps of switch bandwidth and a 256 MB fully shared on-die buffer, available with either OSFP or QSFP-DD optics so a fabric can standardise on either connector.

For AI/ML back-end networks the feature set matters as much as the port density. The platform supports the full lossless RoCE toolchain — Priority Flow Control, ECN, WRED, enhanced transmission selection and DCBX — plus Dynamic Load Balancing across equal-cost paths and buffer logic that treats large AI flows differently from small control traffic. A 3RU N9364E-SP2R variant on Silicon One P200 targets spine roles, and both run the single NX-OS image with POAP, OpenConfig and Nexus Dashboard automation.

Key Benefits

64 x 800G in 2RU with 102.4 Tbps of bandwidth reduces fabric tiers and cabling for GPU clusters. Lossless RoCE with DLB, PFC and ECN keeps RDMA traffic flowing under congestion. Single NX-OS image with OpenConfig, POAP and Nexus Dashboard fits existing Cisco automation and visibility tooling, and 1+1 power with 3+1 fans supports data centre service levels.

Applications

AI/ML back-end (east-west) GPU fabrics, 800G leaf-spine cores, high-density front-end aggregation, storage fabrics, and cloud-scale networks that need programmable 800G forwarding with lossless RoCE.
