Overview
Kingston's industrial SSD line is built for system builders and design engineers rather than retail upgrades. The distinguishing properties are qualification and predictability: a controlled bill of materials down to flash and firmware, product change notification so a design can be re-qualified before components move, and industrial temperature options that keep the drive inside specification where commercial parts would not.
Two families cover most designs. The i-Temp SATA drives operate from -40 C to 85 C and ship in 2.5 in, mSATA, M.2 2242 and M.2 2280 form factors from 128 GB to 1 TB — the straightforward choice for kiosks, signage, robots and point-of-sale terminals exposed to weather or unheated cabinets. The M.2 2280 TLC PCIe Gen 4 NVMe line covers 128 GB to 2 TB with sequential throughput up to 7,000/6,500 MB/s and endurance up to 1,280 TBW for storage-heavy edge systems.
Both families carry automatic wear levelling and garbage collection, SMART health reporting and a limited three-year warranty. Kingston publishes part numbers at the capacity and NAND level — for example OM8SGP4 for 3D TLC and OM8PGP4 for TLC models — which is what makes the drives straightforward to specify in a BOM and to reorder consistently over a multi-year product lifecycle.
Key Benefits
Industrial temperature options to -40 to 85 C for extreme and non-climate-controlled environments. Controlled BOM plus PCN programme protects long-lifecycle designs from silent component changes. PCIe Gen 4 NVMe up to 7,000 MB/s and 1,280 TBW. Broad form factors — 2.5 in, mSATA, M.2 2242 and M.2 2280.
Applications
Ruggedised edge and industrial PCs, robotics and autonomous systems, digital signage and kiosks, point-of-sale, telecom infrastructure, in-flight entertainment, medical and factory-floor embedded systems.
