Overview
The Radxa Dragon Q8B puts a laptop-class Qualcomm SoC into a 100 x 75 mm single board computer. Its Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 (SC8280XP) compute platform combines an 8-core Kryo CPU — four Kryo Prime cores at 3.0 GHz and four Kryo Gold cores at 2.4 GHz — with an Adreno 690 GPU supporting DirectX and DirectML, plus a Qualcomm Hexagon processor and the Qualcomm AI Engine rated up to 29+ TOPS.
That mix makes the Q8B one of the fastest Arm single board computers in its price band. Early independent benchmarks place it well above QCS6490-class boards thanks to faster CPU, GPU and NPU blocks and speedier memory, and Qualcomm AI Hub support provides a library of pre-optimized models with one-click deployment for on-device inference.
The board is unusually well connected for its size: dual 2.5GbE LAN, HDMI 2.1 plus two USB-C ports with DP Alt Mode for triple 4K120 display output, UFS 3.1 storage, PCIe Gen3 expansion, a microSD slot, six additional USB ports, a 40-pin GPIO header and 3.5 mm audio with a microphone connector. Memory scales to 32 GB of 128-bit LPDDR4X at up to 4266 MT/s, and the board is powered over USB Type-C at 20 V. Retail configurations have listed from roughly $180 for the 4 GB model.
Key Benefits
Flagship Arm performance per watt — an 8-core Kryo CPU at up to 3.0 GHz, Adreno 690 GPU and a 29+ TOPS Qualcomm AI Engine on a 5 nm SoC. Unusual I/O density with dual 2.5GbE, triple 4K120 display output, UFS 3.1, PCIe Gen3 and a 40-pin GPIO header, plus Qualcomm AI Hub model deployment.
Applications
Edge AI inference nodes, local services and small-form-factor servers, robotics and vision endpoints, digital signage and kiosk computing, network appliances, and low-power Arm server or NAS projects.
