Overview

The Luckfox Aura is an edge AI board built around Rockchip's RV1126B on a 14 nm process, positioned for industrial vision and stereo SLAM rather than general-purpose computing. Its distinguishing feature is the camera front end: two 4-lane MIPI CSI interfaces, each able to take a camera up to 14 MP, giving true synchronized stereo depth capture — where most RV1126B-class designs offer a single camera or a DVP path.

The AI path combines a 3 TOPS NPU with an NPU-assisted AI-ISP. The ISP uses the accelerator for spatial noise reduction and image enhancement, which reduces reliance on supplementary lighting and improves frame-to-frame consistency in low-light warehouses, factories and inspection booths. Mixed-precision INT8, INT16 and FP16 support with roughly 0.5 TOPS/W efficiency keeps passively cooled designs viable under sustained inference.

Around the core sits a practical industrial I/O set: hardware 4K30 H.264/H.265 encode and decode with sub-100 ms streaming latency, up to 4 GB LPDDR4X and 64 GB eMMC, Wi-Fi 6 with OFDMA plus Bluetooth 5.4, Gigabit Ethernet, and seven SARADC channels for direct sensor connection. Buildroot and Debian BSPs with the RKMPP framework and a Raspberry Pi-compatible 40-pin header keep the software and mechanical integration familiar.

Key Benefits

Dual 4-lane MIPI CSI with true stereo depth removes the need for external stereo synchronisation hardware. NPU-assisted AI-ISP at about 0.5 TOPS/W maintains image quality under passive cooling in sealed enclosures. 4K30 hardware codec plus Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet make it a standalone vision node rather than just a compute board.

Applications

Stereo vision for robots and AMRs, autonomous inspection robots, smart access control with 3D face or depth sensing, localised 4K AI video analytics, low-light industrial inspection, and large-scale edge AI rollouts where unit cost and lifecycle matter.
