Overview

The Banana Pi BPI-F4 is a 55 × 40 mm module and matching carrier built on the Sunplus SP7350, a quad-core Cortex-A55 SoC at 2.1 GHz with a 4.1 TOPS NPU running at 900 MHz. Alongside the application cores it carries a Cortex-M4 at up to 400 MHz for an always-on subsystem, so sensor polling, wake logic or a live watchdog can run without waking the A55 cluster.

The design decision that matters commercially is the carrier interface: two 100-pin board-to-board connectors laid out to be largely compatible with the Raspberry Pi CM4 and CM5. That puts the BPI-F4 into an existing ecosystem of carriers, enclosures and industrial baseboards — with the caveat that HDMI is not directly supported by the SP7350 and has to be produced by a MIPI DSI-to-HDMI bridge on the carrier.

The supplied carrier breaks out HDMI, MIPI CSI for an OV5647 camera, gigabit Ethernet through a Realtek RTL8211F PHY, USB 3.0 and 2.0, and seven terminal blocks covering GPIO, ADC, SPI, I²C, UART and PWM with jumper-selectable 3.3 V or 5 V logic. An M.2 E-Key socket takes a Wi-Fi module. Boot is from microSD or the on-board 32 GB eMMC.

Key Benefits

CM4/CM5 carrier compatibility. Two 100-pin connectors laid out for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module ecosystem, so existing carriers and enclosures can be reused. Always-on Cortex-M4. A separate 400 MHz real-time core handles low-power sensing and wake logic without spinning up the A55 cluster. 4.1 TOPS NPU with jumper-selectable I/O voltage. Edge inference plus 3.3 V or 5 V field wiring from the same board — unusual and useful for mixed-voltage industrial panels.

Applications

Industrial edge inference, machine and process control, smart camera and video-analytics front ends, HMI controllers, building automation gateways, retail and kiosk terminals, robotics sensor hubs.
