Display head vs panel PC: which one a machine actually needs
The IPPD 1600P is a monitor, not a computer — it has video inputs and a USB touch channel, and no CPU, OS or storage. That is deliberate: in many retrofits the host already exists in the cabinet (a PLC with a video output, an industrial box PC, or a rack-mounted server) and only the operator-facing surface has to be replaced with something that survives coolant, swarf and hose-down. Adding a second computer inside the bezel would duplicate the licence, the OS patch cycle and the point of failure.
Where the IPPD 1600P is the right choice, the cabinet holds a separate NEXCOM or third-party box PC and the panel is mounted through a standard 15.6-inch cut-out with a VESA 100 mm arm option. Where the process needs local compute, sensing or an NPU, a panel PC such as the Avalue SPC-WR2 or an OnLogic Tacton is the correct family instead — the display head has no provisioning path for that.
