The NEXCOM rROK 5520 Series is a fanless 2U rackmount edge AI computer engineered for rolling stock and other railway applications. Rather than a general-purpose industrial PC in a railway chassis, it is a railway-certified platform: EN 50155:2021 with class OT4 ambient temperature, EN 45545-2 fire safety, and EMC to EN 50121-1 and EN 50121-3-2, plus MIL-STD-810H vibration and shock testing (40g functional shock).
Compute is provided by Intel Core 9/7/5/3 processors of the second generation with a PBP up to 65W on an Intel R680E chipset, paired with two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots supporting ECC and dual-channel operation up to 96 GB. An optional NVIDIA RTX 2000 or RTX 3500 Ada MXM module installs in the PCIe 4.0 x16 MXM slot to add discrete GPU acceleration for onboard AI video analytics — a fan kit is required for the RTX 3500.
Edge storage scales to eight hot-swappable 2.5-inch SATA SSDs with RAID 0/1/5/10 in the rROK 5520-WIC7S, plus an M.2 Key M NVMe slot on PCIe 4.0 x4 for fast local caching; the WIC7S also provides seven M12 X-coded Gigabit PoE ports delivering up to 80W total to cameras and access points. Connectivity further includes dual 2.5GbE M12 ports with Intel I226 controllers, six USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, three isolated COM ports, two isolated CAN FD channels, isolated digital I/O, a u-blox NEO-M9N GNSS receiver, an accelerometer and gyroscope, and TPM 2.0. A wide-range isolated DC 24V~110V input with ignition control, selectable boot/shutdown voltages and configurable power-on delay rounds out a platform built for passenger connectivity, AI video analytics and scalable onboard edge storage.
