Helios Rack-Scale Platform

AMD's Helios platform is the MI400's answer to NVIDIA DGX systems. A single Helios rack houses 72 MI455X GPUs paired with EPYC "Venice" (Zen 6) CPUs, delivering:

AMD's first-year MI400 revenue is projected at $7.2 billion, with the data center GPU business forecast to generate $15 billion in 2026 — 114% YoY growth. Major cloud partners include TensorWave, with OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic among early demand drivers.

CDNA 5 Architecture

The MI400 series is AMD's first GPU on TSMC N2 (2nm), representing a full node shrink from MI350's 3nm/6nm process. The MI455X packs 320 billion transistors across a multi-chiplet design — 12 compute chiplets on N2 plus 3 advanced chiplets on 3nm. HBM4 memory delivers 2.4× the bandwidth of MI350's HBM3E, making the MI400 a transformative upgrade for memory-bound large language model workloads.

All MI400 GPUs support UALink, the open interconnect standard backed by AMD, Intel, Google, Meta, and Microsoft — a direct challenge to NVIDIA's proprietary NVLink ecosystem. Combined with AMD's open-source ROCm 6 software stack, the MI400 series offers enterprises a credible alternative to NVIDIA for large-scale AI infrastructure.
