Overview

The SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD and SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD are a pair of purpose-built NAS drives from Sandisk, introduced in August 2026 and shipping from September. They address the change in how NAS systems are used: larger datasets, more concurrent users and always-on workloads mean that a drive chosen for a desktops is no longer a sensible choice for a NAS that runs continuously and hosts multi-user collaboration.

The NAS 800 is the performance tier. It is a PCIe 5.0 M.2 2280 drive built on SANDISK TLC 3D NAND, reaching up to 14,900MB/s sequential read and 13,200MB/s sequential write at 1.92TB, and up to 2.3M read / 2M write IOPS at 3.84TB. Endurance is the headline differentiator for write-heavy NAS duty: up to 14 PBW on the 7.68TB model, which is what makes it viable as caching, storage tiering or even primary storage in an all-flash array rather than only as a boot device. Capacities run from 960GB to 7.68TB and the drive is tested against leading NAS systems for compatibility.

The NAS 600 covers the SATA tier for hybrid arrays and drive-for-drive HDD replacement. In a 2.5-inch, 7mm form factor that drops into existing 3.5-inch bays accepting 2.5-inch drives, it delivers up to 560MB/s sequential read with up to 2,500 TBW endurance on the 4TB model and up to 2.25M hours MTTF, from 500GB to 4TB. Because it has no moving parts it runs silently and suits multi-drive RAID configurations, lowering total cost of ownership through reduced rebuild time and higher productivity per bay. Both drives target databases, virtualisation, content creation and - increasingly - agentic AI workloads running against local storage.

Key Benefits

NAS-specific endurance up to 14 PBW on the NAS 800 versus consumer drives, up to 14,900MB/s and 2.3M IOPS on PCIe 5.0 M.2 2280, a drop-in 2.5in/7mm SATA option whose 2,500 TBW suits continuous write workloads, compatibility tested against leading NAS systems, silent operation in multi-drive RAID arrays, and capacities from 500GB to 7.68TB covering cache, tier and primary-storage roles.

Applications

All-flash and hybrid NAS arrays, private cloud and local AI data management, databases and virtualisation storage, media and content-creation collaboration, backup and caching tiers, and local agentic AI workloads reading large datasets.
