Overview
The Samsung PM9A3 is the mainstream PCIe Gen4 data-centre NVMe SSD, and the MZ1L2960HCJR-00A07 is the 960 GB M.2 22110 build. The M.2 form factor is how current rack servers provision their operating system: most 1U and 2U platforms now carry two M.2 slots on the motherboard specifically so the OS can live on NVMe without consuming a front-accessible drive bay.
The 22110 length (110 mm) is the long M.2 size and is what enterprise motherboards are laid out for - 2280 client modules physically fit but usually do not have a mounting standoff where the enterprise slot expects one. That is the single most common ordering error with M.2 enterprise SSDs.
The drive is OCP 1.0 compliant, carries a 1 DWPD five-year rating, and is offered with SED / TCG Opal self-encryption for deployments that require encryption at rest without host-side overhead.
Key Benefits
M.2 22110 boot device: keeps the OS off front-accessible bays. Gen4 x4: 6,800 MB/s read, 580K IOPS. OCP 1.0 compliant: meets hyperscale boot-drive specifications. 1 DWPD: five-year write endurance for OS and log volumes.
Applications
Server boot devices in hyperconverged and rack platforms, OS and swap volumes, hypervisor system disks, edge server system volumes, and OCP-specification deployments.
