Overview

The Kioxia NX1 Series marks a milestone as Kioxia's first enterprise SSD with direct liquid cooling support. Announced July 28, 2026, the NX1 is a next-generation PCIe Gen5 NVMe data center SSD purpose-built for GPU-enabled AI servers and hyperscale infrastructure — environments where dense storage configurations demand advanced thermal management.

Available in both E1.S 9.5 mm (dual liquid + air cooling) and E1.S 15 mm (air-only) form factors, the NX1 delivers capacities from 1.92 TB to 15.36 TB at 1 DWPD read-intensive endurance. It is built on Kioxia's 8th-generation BiCS FLASH TLC NAND using CBA (CMOS directly Bonded to Array) architecture and features an entirely new in-house controller design.

Compared to the previous XD8 Series, the NX1 achieves up to 38% higher sequential write and up to 20% higher random write performance. Full compliance with PCIe 5.0, NVMe 2.0, OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD 2.6, and NVMe Flexible Data Placement (FDP) ensures compatibility with the latest data center architectures. An optional TCG Opal Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) model addresses regulated-environment security requirements. The NX1 is currently sampling to select hyperscale customers and will debut publicly at FMS 2026 in Santa Clara, CA (August 4-6).
