Overview

DapuStor, a Shenzhen-based enterprise SSD specialist, unveiled the R6060 at FMS 2026 — the world's highest-capacity solid-state drive at 512TB (half a petabyte). Built in the new E2 form factor, an EDSFF variant designed specifically for maximum-capacity QLC drives, the R6060 doubles DapuStor's previous 245TB flagship and enables a full petabyte of flash with just two drives. The E2 platform adds a few millimeters of depth and width beyond E3.L, allowing significantly more NAND placements per device.

The R6060 pairs DapuStor's in-house DP800 controller with PCIe 5.0 connectivity and the NVMe 2.0 protocol. With ~200 × 76 × 9.5 mm dimensions, it crams half a petabyte into a compact enterprise form factor. The scale economics are compelling: a 36-bay E2 server reaches roughly 16PB of raw capacity in a single system — more capacity per CPU and per chassis, which lowers memory, NIC, motherboard, and power costs across the storage estate.

The R6060 was named a Device Engineering Award Finalist in the FMS 2026 Best of Show Awards as part of a joint solution with UBIX (UbiPower 18000 all-flash platform), and DapuStor drives have posted leading results in MLPerf Storage v2.0 — validating R6-series performance for AI training and inference storage workloads.

Key Benefits

Half-Petabyte Density: 512TB per drive — twice the capacity of any shipping 256TB-class E3.S or U.2 SSD — maximizes storage per rack unit. E2 Form Factor: Purpose-built for capacity-optimized QLC, with more NAND sites per drive and headroom for future cost reduction as NAND pricing evolves. AI Training & Data Lakes: Engineered for scale-out storage and AI training clusters that hold massive datasets — write-once, read-often workloads. Liquid-Cooled Sibling: The R6 E1.S variant adds cold-plate liquid cooling and GPUDirect Storage (GDS) support for high-density GPU servers. Flexible Data Placement & QoS: QLC optimization techniques including FDP, host-SSD collaboration, and power-loss protection tune the drives for AI infrastructure demands.
