Overview
The Senao SA9832v2 is a secure access service edge gateway — a single box that does firewalling, traffic filtering and inspection, and VPN termination — and it is Senao's most powerful model in that line. Despite the v2 name there is no SA9832v1; it is functionally the wired-only sibling of the SA9820, trading wireless capability for faster copper Ethernet.
The processor is an Intel Atom X7809C from the Amston Lake platform, a family that gets little attention because it targets embedded devices. Architecturally it is the embedded counterpart of Alder Lake-N: eight Gracemont cores at up to 3.6 GHz inside a 25 W envelope. Its nine PCIe Gen3 lanes are the feature that matters most for a gateway, since that is what drives the NIC complement.
The port layout is where the v2 differs most from its predecessor. Where the SA9820 offered 2x 1GbE + 2x 2.5GbE + 2x SFP+, the SA9832v2 moves every copper port to 2.5Gb and adds two more, giving 6x 2.5GbE plus 2x SFP+. Senao pairs the SoC with 16 GB of LPDDR5, which is generous for an embedded appliance.
Key Benefits
Six 2.5GbE plus two SFP+ in a single appliance — more wired bandwidth than the wireless-capable model it replaces. 25 W Amston Lake SoC with eight Gracemont cores for inspection and VPN crypto at line rate. 16 GB LPDDR5 so stateful inspection tables and VPN sessions are not memory-constrained. One box for networking and security at branch scale.
Applications
Branch and edge SASE deployments; consolidated firewall plus VPN appliances; traffic inspection and filtering at remote sites; uCPE platforms running virtualised network functions; retail and distributed-site security gateways; small-site wired backhaul with SFP+ fibre uplinks.
