Overview
The Robustel EG5101 is the LTE Cat 1 bis member of Robustel's EG5100 edge-gateway family. Cat 1 bis is deliberately modest in bandwidth, which makes it far cheaper to run on cellular tariffs than Cat 4 or 5G modems — the right choice for sensor aggregation, telemetry and remote control where a few hundred kilobits per second is plenty.
Despite the lower radio class, the gateway keeps the full edge-computing platform: an ARMv7 processor running Debian 11 with Docker, so application containers can run on the device rather than in the cloud. Dual Ethernet, RS232/RS485 serial, digital I/O and optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cover the usual plant interfaces, and RobustOS Pro plus the RCMS cloud platform handle configuration, monitoring and over-the-air updates across a fleet.
