Overview
Makerfabs has extended its MaTouch E Ink family with a 7.5-inch model that pairs an 800 x 480 four-colour electrophoretic panel with an ESP32-S3 controller. The panel supports black, white, red and yellow, is driven by a JD79665 controller over SPI, and has an active area of 163.2 x 97.92 mm at a 0.204 mm pixel pitch. A full-screen refresh takes roughly 20 seconds, and the panel is rated for 0 C to 40 C operation.
The electronics are aimed squarely at voice-and-sensor edge devices rather than plain displays. A four-microphone array feeds an ES7210 multi-channel audio ADC, which Makerfabs lists for far-field voice pickup, beamforming and direction-of-arrival processing; a QMI8658A six-axis IMU provides accelerometer and gyroscope data for motion and orientation sensing.
Rounding out the board are 8MB of PSRAM and 16MB of SPI flash on the ESP32-S3R8, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 LE, a microSD slot, native USB over USB Type-C, a lithium-polymer battery interface with onboard charging and an optional camera module. The intended applications are information displays, voice-controlled interfaces and low-power dashboards where e-paper's zero-hold-power behaviour matters.
Key Benefits
7.5-inch four-colour E Ink with zero hold power, four-microphone array plus ES7210 ADC for far-field voice, six-axis IMU for orientation sensing, and an ESP32-S3R8 with 8MB PSRAM for on-device processing.
Applications
Battery-powered information displays and signage, voice-controlled HMI panels, smart-home dashboards, low-power sensor nodes, and e-paper nameplate or label systems.
