Overview
The NXP FRDM-IMXRT1186 is an evaluation and development board for the i.MX RT1180 crossover MCU family, combining an 800 MHz Arm Cortex-M7 application core with a 300 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 real-time control and communications core in a single heterogeneous device.
Its networking block is the headline feature: two Gigabit Ethernet ports with TSN switching plus two Fast Ethernet ports that can run either EtherCAT or TSN switching, which makes the board a practical starting point for industrial Ethernet, motion-control and PLC designs.
Key Benefits
Bring-up board for the i.MX RT1186 with full TSN and EtherCAT-capable networking; heterogeneous dual-core architecture separates application workload from hard real-time control; on-board MCU-Link debugger removes the need for external probe hardware; Arduino UNO R3 and FRDM headers plus dedicated motor-control headers shorten prototype cycles.
Applications
Industrial automation controllers, PLC and motion-control designs, robotics, industrial Ethernet gateways, industrial IoT edge nodes and factory-floor instrumentation.
