Overview
The Simply NUC extremeEDGE line is a fanless edge-server family spanning eight models in three series, from an Intel Celeron N5105 gateway at the bottom to AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 8840U nodes with 96 GB of RAM and 26 TB of NVMe at the top. The unifying feature across every model is NANO-BMC — a baseboard management controller that gives out-of-band access to hardware health and control in a small-form-factor box, the same class of remote management a rack server has.
That is the reason to look at it rather than a general fanless industrial PC. Remote sites — a retail branch, a substation cabinet, a factory cell, a cellular-connected kiosk — are expensive to visit, and a unit you can power-cycle and inspect remotely without a truck roll pays for itself quickly. The EE-3000 series goes further and offers DIN-rail or 1U rackmount mounting alongside four 2.5GbE ports and two SFP+ 10GbE cages.
Configuration options run across the family: Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, 4G LTE or 5G with dual SIM, and one or more AI accelerator modules, all except on the entry EE-1000 which is positioned purely as an IoT gateway. Storage scales from a single M.2 2242 slot to four M.2 sockets for 26 TB total on the EE-3000 series.
Key Benefits
NANO-BMC on every model. Out-of-band management and hardware-health control in a fanless small-form-factor box — no truck roll to power-cycle a remote node. One family from gateway to edge server. Eight models share a single deployment and management pattern across a fleet. Up to 96 GB RAM and 26 TB NVMe. Enough local storage and memory to keep data at the edge rather than backhauling it. 10GbE SFP+ and AI accelerator options. EE-3000 series adds two SFP+ cages and DIN-rail or 1U rack mounting.
Applications
Remote retail and branch edge nodes, industrial automation cells, IoT gateway aggregation, substation and utility cabinets, cellular-connected outdoor sites, video-analytics and AI-inference nodes, distributed storage and local data reduction.
