Overview
The AAEON UP Xtreme PTL Edge is the rugged system-class member of the UP Xtreme PTL family, built on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) processors. Three CPU options span the range — the Core Ultra 5 325, the Core Ultra 7 356H and the Core Ultra X7 358H — and all ship with Intel Arc Xe3 integrated graphics plus an Intel NPU 5.0. AAEON rates the combination at up to 180 TOPS of AI performance, with the integrated GPU/NPU package executing deep-learning acceleration alongside the CPU rather than displacing it.
The system takes two DDR5 SO-DIMMs for up to 128GB at up to 7200 MT/s, dual-channel, and two M.2 2280 M-Key slots for NVMe storage, with an additional M.2 2230 E-Key socket for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Display output reaches four simultaneous 8K screens via two HDMI 2.1 ports and two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs carried over USB 4.0 Type-C, which suits video-analytics dashboards, multi-head operator stations and signage. For industrial integration there are two 2.5GbE LAN ports, two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, dual COM ports selectable as RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485, and a 40-pin GPIO header for direct sensor and relay wiring.
Power comes in over a wide 19–36V DC range with an onboard TPM 2.0 for platform integrity, and the chassis is specified as a rugged system intended for industrial rather than office deployment. AAEON also offers the UP Xtreme PTL in a board form factor for developers and system integrators who want to design the enclosure themselves, and provides a free Edge AI Toolkit for object detection, benchmarking and model conversion on UP platforms. The UP Xtreme PTL Edge was announced in September 2026.
Key Benefits
Highest integrated AI throughput in its class: 180 TOPS from Core Ultra Series 3 with Xe3 graphics and NPU 5.0 means substantial vision and GenAI workloads run locally with no discrete accelerator. Integration-ready I/O: dual 2.5GbE, dual COM, a 40-pin GPIO header and USB4 make the system easy to drop into existing automation cabinets and sensor rigs. Wide DC input and TPM: 19–36V acceptance plus onboard TPM 2.0 fit industrial power rails and secure-boot requirements.
Applications
Industrial edge AI inference and video analytics, machine-vision and quality-inspection stations, robotics and AMR control computing, multi-head operator and signage displays, smart-factory gateways, and developer/system-integrator edge platforms derived from the UP Xtreme PTL board.
