Overview
The PiLink PL-R5 and PL-R5M Series are compact industrial PCs from Japan-based PiLink, built on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5) and offered with either IP20 or IP65 ingress protection. They bring the CM5 ecosystem into sealed, washdown-capable and DIN-rail-class industrial enclosures.
The two series differ mainly in I/O profile. The PL-R5 provides one USB 3.0 port, one Gigabit Ethernet port and a wide 9V to 40V DC input. The PL-R5M is the more compact option with one USB 2.0 port, one 100 Mbps Ethernet port, an optional extra Gigabit Ethernet port and a 10.7V to 28.8V DC input range. Both include optional Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth, an M.2 B-Key socket for cellular modules, and optional RS-232, RS-485 and I2C interfaces.
The IP65 models are offered in three configurations: Basic, Basic Plus — which adds four analog inputs and four digital inputs/outputs — and USB, with three USB ports. The PL-R5 additionally offers a DIO CAN IP65 variant carrying two digital inputs, two digital outputs and two CAN Bus interfaces. The IP20 variants share essentially the same feature set but omit the waterproof connectors, which lets PiLink expose a wider range of interface options including Single Pair Ethernet, display support for maintenance work, and additional COM and USB 3.0 ports.
All models run Raspberry Pi Bookworm or Trixie OS with the relevant drivers provided. PiLink publishes a product brief and links OS images on each product page, though further resources require customer login or direct vendor contact. The carrier board includes an RTC battery socket and an M.2 B-Key socket. QS Compute supplies the PL-R5 and PL-R5M Series on a quote basis.
Key Benefits
IP65 sealing with the Raspberry Pi CM5 — brings the CM5 software ecosystem into washdown and dusty environments. Three IP65 configurations plus a DIO CAN variant, so I/O can be matched to the application rather than over-specified. Wide DC input — 9-40V on the PL-R5 and 10.7-28.8V on the PL-R5M suit industrial and vehicle rails. M.2 B-Key cellular plus optional Wi-Fi 5/Bluetooth for remote and mobile deployments. DIN-rail-friendly compact chassis with RTC battery retention. Fixtures RS-232/RS-485 and CAN for legacy machine and vehicle integration.
Applications
Washdown food and beverage production lines, outdoor and pole-mounted industrial controllers, vehicle and mobile equipment computing, remote monitoring with cellular backhaul, CAN-based machine integration, and any CM5 design that requires IP65 sealing rather than a development board.
