Overview
The Norco RPC-4224 is a 4U 19-inch rackmount chassis built around 24 hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA/SAS drive bays and a 6-port SFF-8087 Mini-SAS backplane, giving a single 4U unit up to 24 drives of local storage without external JBOD expansion.
It accepts standard ATX, CEB and EEB server boards plus either a standard ATX power supply or a mini-redundant unit, so existing compute hardware can be moved into a dense storage chassis at low cost. Four 80 mm midplane fans push air directly across the drive stack, with two further 80 mm fans at the rear.
Its 24-bay layout is the classic low-cost platform for RAID arrays, network-attached storage and backup targets, and it is widely used as the starting point for software-defined storage nodes.
