Overview

POET Technologies builds optical engines on its Optical Interposer platform, which co-integrates electrical and optical components on a single substrate instead of assembling discrete parts. The Teralight product line is a family of 1.6T highly integrated transmit and receive optical engines aimed at 1.6T pluggable transceivers and AI-cluster scale-out.

The 1.6T transmit engine uses only four externally modulated laser chips — instead of the eight used in conventional 1.6T transceivers — by leveraging Mitsubishi Electric's 2x200G EML lasers. The system-on-chip architecture lets a single board design serve both 1.6T DR8 and 2xFR4 pluggable modules, simplifying engineering across DR and FR products.

POET Blazar is a novel external cavity laser (ECL) built on the same Optical Interposer. It delivers multi-channel, multi-frequency, high-power output with wafer-scale, chip-scale packaging, and is positioned as a light source for co-packaged optics (CPO) and chip-to-chip optical links inside and between AI servers.

Key Benefits

Fewer lasers per module (4 vs 8 for 1.6T) lower cost and power; one board design serves DR8 and 2xFR4 modules; wafer-scale ECL packaging enables high-volume CPO light sources; lithographically defined wavelength control supports flexible, precise multi-wavelength output.

Applications

1.6T/800G AI-cluster scale-out optics, co-packaged and near-packaged optics, chip-to-chip optical interconnect within and between AI servers, hyperscale data-center fabric, and next-generation 3.2T transceivers.
