Overview
The Broadcom Trident X3+ BCM56390 is a next-generation enterprise Ethernet switch designed for the bandwidth, security and intelligence demands of AI-ready networks. It doubles front-panel bandwidth to up to 48 multi-gigabit ports, providing the high-density connectivity required to aggregate Wi-Fi 8 access points and edge AI devices.
Trident X3+ is the first switch to integrate PQC-compliant MACsec across all ports, hardening the wired network against harvest-now-decrypt-later attacks, and adds a Secure Boot engine with a hardware root-of-trust for end-to-end wired and wireless security. Broadcom pairs it with multi-gigabit PHYs (BCM84918, BCM54908, BCM54908E) and integrated PoE power-sourcing-equipment chips.
Announced alongside Broadcom's Wi-Fi 8 Edge AI AP platform, Trident X3+ is part of a unified architecture spanning access point, switch, PHY and PoE. Together they deliver end-to-end telemetry for AIOps and support wireless Time-Sensitive Networking over 1588 PTP for deterministic, ultra-low-latency communication in industrial and AI-driven manufacturing environments.
