Overview
The VVDN i.MX 94 System-on-Module is built on NXP's i.MX 94 applications processor, which pairs application-class performance with MCU-grade real-time control on a single device. That combination lets a design consolidate PLC-style deterministic control and higher-level application workloads onto one platform.
The module's headline feature is Time-Sensitive Networking with ultra-low latency and precise timing for deterministic communication on the factory floor. Functional-safety support to IEC 61508 SIL2/SIL3 and ISO 26262 ASIL B, plus an EdgeLock Secure Enclave and post-quantum cryptography, make it suitable for safety- and security-critical equipment.
VVDN offers the SoM with a reference carrier board, its own M.2 expansion for AI accelerators, SSDs and 5G modems, and a compact industrial-grade form factor. Target applications span industrial gateways, PLCs, motion and robotics controllers, HMIs and remote I/O.
Key Benefits
Deterministic real-time control fused with secure edge intelligence. i.MX 94's real-time cores plus TSN deliver precise, low-latency I/O, while EdgeLock security and PQC-ready design protect industrial infrastructure. M.2 slots add an AI accelerator, NVMe SSD or 5G modem as the application grows.
Applications
Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and remote I/O; factory automation and motion control; robotics controllers; industrial HMIs; industrial gateways; building management and security systems.
