The Giada iM1-993 is an industrial computer-on-module that implements the SMARC V2.1.1 pinout around the NXP i.MX93 family, giving embedded designers a production-ready ARM module in a compact 82 x 50 mm footprint. Its heterogeneous multicore architecture pairs one or two Arm Cortex-A55 application cores running up to 1.7 GHz with an Arm Cortex-M33 real-time processor at 250 MHz, so application processing, deterministic real-time control and AI inference can coexist on a single module.
AI acceleration comes from an integrated Arm Ethos-U65 microNPU, while an EdgeLock secure enclave delivers hardware root-of-trust and secure boot functions; optional TPM 2.0 is available for designs that require discrete attestation. Energy efficiency is a headline feature — at maximum 1.7 GHz the processor consumes just 1.7W, making the module viable for fanless and battery-constrained industrial designs.
I/O is comprehensive for an industrial control module: dual Gigabit Ethernet, two CAN-FD buses, USB 2.0 (one OTG plus three hosts), UART, SPI, I2C, I2S audio and ten GPIO lines, plus a 2-lane MIPI-CSI camera input and single-channel LVDS / 4-lane MIPI-DSI / HDMI display outputs. On-board LPDDR4x memory and 32 GB eMMC (64 GB optional) remove external memory design work, and an on-board wireless module is available as an assembly option via SDIO 3.0. The module runs Yocto 4.2 or 5.0.4 and is specified across an extended -40°C to 85°C range, with the Giada IB3-993 SMARC 2.1 carrier board offered as a companion for evaluation and deployment.
