Overview
The ASRock Industrial iEP-7040E Series steps up from the iEP-7030E with an Arrow Lake-H platform: the iEP-7040E carries the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H (16 cores at 2.00 GHz, 28W) and the iEP-7041E the Core Ultra 5 225H (14 cores at 1.70 GHz, 28W), with everything else held constant across the two. The top part is a 6 performance + 8 efficient + 2 low-power-efficient core layout with 16 threads, paired with Intel Arc graphics and an integrated NPU for dedicated AI acceleration.
Memory capacity rises to 96GB across two DDR5 5600 MHz SO-DIMMs and the platform supports Intel In-Band ECC, which detects and corrects single-bit errors in main memory without a full registered-ECC implementation — the practical middle ground for edge nodes that must run unattended for long periods. Networking is five Intel controllers: three i226-IT and two i210-AT, with IEEE 802.3af PoE on the PoE SKU for powering cameras over the data cable. The 8DIO SKU adds eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs with sink/source isolation rated to 36V, enough to wire plant signals directly.
The environmental specification is stronger than the base series: -25°C to 50°C operating with airflow, a -40°C to 85°C storage range, roughly 95% humidity at 40°C non-condensing, 5 Grms vibration across 5–500 Hz in three axes, and 100G half-sine shock for 11 ms — all quoted with an SSD fitted. A dual 9V/19V to 36V DC input, ±8 kV contact and ±15 kV air ESD protection, CE and FCC Class A EMC approval, TPM 2.0, a watchdog timer and Intel In-Band Manageability complete the industrial package. Expansion covers an M.2 3042/3052 socket with Nano SIM plus 5 to 7 SMA antenna holes for wireless, and the chassis is fanless.
